The Secretary-General of the Al-Daae Party, Mr. Saad Jassim Nasser Al-Timimi, stated that holding elections remains a necessity in a country like Iraq, despite the numerous observations and negative indicators that have been raised — starting from the current electoral law, through the Electoral Commission and its Board of Commissioners, and ending with the unequal competition among parties participating in the electoral process. Al-Timimi explained that the existing electoral law contains many flaws, the most significant of which is that it was tailored to serve the interests of the ruling blocs. He also noted that the Electoral Commission is currently facing challenges due to the annulment of many of its decisions, including the reinstatement of candidates who were previously excluded under pretexts that often lack a solid legal basis. Furthermore, he emphasized that the competition among the participating parties is far from fair, given that ruling parties possess both money and arms and control the state’s resources, while independent and non-ruling parties have only their principles, programs, and credibility with the people. Al-Timimi added that the Al-Daae Party’s decision to participate in the parliamentary elections is not driven by a desire to compete with the aforementioned ruling parties, but rather to uphold democracy as a legitimate and lawful choice. The Secretary-General concluded by presenting the party’s candidates to the public, saying: "The candidates of the Al-Daae Party are available to serve you. We do not ask you to vote for them right away, but we invite you to meet them, listen to them, or welcome them into your homes so they may explain to you what others have not — what is most important and most deserving of your attention — and to help illuminate the path ahead of you."
